US steel production for the week ended June 25

US domestic crude steel production for the week ending June 25, 2005 was 1.88 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 81.9%. Last year's production during the same period was 2.15 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 96.6%. The past week's production represents a 12.7% year-on-year decrease. Production for the week ending June 25, 2005 was up 4.3% from the previous week, when production was 1.80 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 78.6%. Year-to-date production through June 25, 2005 was 50.54 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 87.5%. That is 4.7% decrease from the 53.02 million net tons during the same period last year.
