US steel exports fall 9 percent in July

According to US export data, monthly steel exports in July decreased 9.0 percent from June to total 669,590 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 9.2 percent decline. Exports to Mexico decreased 5.9 percent from the preceding month to 269,723 mt, and decreased 4.5 percent from July 2015. Exports to Canada decreased by 11.7 percent month-on-month to 331,634 mt, which is down 8.7 percent from a year earlier.
 
Other major destinations for US steel exports in July include: India, at 9,450 mt; China, at 6,373 mt; Germany, at 4,281 mt; Belgium, at 3,541 mt; and Italy, at 3,226 mt.
 
Major products exported in July include cut-length plates, at 91,379 mt; HDG, at 88,452 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 50,543 mt; heavy structural shapes, at 43,020 mt; and cold rolled sheets, at 39,701 mt.
