US steel exports drop 4.8 percent in November

According to US export data, monthly steel exports in November decreased 4.8 percent from October to total 661,693 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows a 2.3 percent increase. In terms of value, US steel exports in November totaled $854.1 million, compared to $912.2 million in October and $872.7 million in November 2015.
 
Steel exports to Canada in November decreased 1.1 percent from the preceding month to 332,872 mt, but increased 0.5 percent from November 2015. Exports to Mexico decreased by 6.9 percent month-on-month to 265,248 mt, which is up 9.9 percent from a year earlier. 
 
Other top destinations for US steel exports in November include: China, at 6,061 mt; India, at 5,317 mt; Germany, at 3,561 mt; Korea, at 3,541 mt; and Italy, at 3,539 mt.
 
Major steel products exported in November include HDG, at 89,804 mt; cut-length plates, at 81,410 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 64,108 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 47,661 mt; and plates in coils, at 33,257 mt.
