US standard rail exports rise 21.1 percent in April

US exports of standard rail totaled 7,526 mt in April, up 21.1 percent from March and up 18.4 percent from April 2016 levels. By value, standard rail exports totaled $6.1 million in April, compared to $5.1 million in the previous month and $6.6 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most standard rail to Mexico in April, with 6,227 mt, compared to 3,391 mt in March and 2,819 mt in April 2016. Other destinations included Canada, with 1,004 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US standard rail exports in April.
