According to Joe Pickard, the Chief Economist and Commercial Director of Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), scrap exports from US to Southeast Asia is likely to increase in the future.

Joe Pickard stated that the main scrap export markets for the U.S. are China and Turkey due to their strong demand for scrap. However, China and Turkey are not the only two countries that have strong demand for scrap and fast steel production growth.

Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore will become important US scrap export markets. Besides, Egypt also has a great potential for production growth
