Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 12 the US rig count increased by six to 1,931, following an increase of 11 rigs the week before. The gas rig count decreased by two to 338, whereas the oil rig count increased by eight to 1,592. The overall rig count is still up by 163 from 1,768 rigs during the same week a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by nine in the week ending September 12 to reach 405 following a five-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 25 from 389 rigs during the same week a year ago.
