US rig counts stabilize as Canadian count drops

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 19 the US rig count remained level at 1,931, following an increase of six rigs the week before. The gas rig count decreased by nine to 329, whereas the oil rig count increased by nine to 1,601. The overall rig count is still up by 170 from 1,761 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 28 in the week ending September 19 to reach 377 following a nine-rig decrease the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now down 11 from 388 rigs during the same week a year ago.
