US rig count ticks up modestly

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending July 11 the US rig count increased again by one to 1,875, following a one-rig increase the week before.  The rig count is still up by 116 from 1,759 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The gas rig count stayed neutral at 311, whereas the oil rig count increased by one to 1,563.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by six in the week ending July 11 to reach 315 following a 73-rig increase the previous week.  The Canadian rig count is now up 21 from 294 rigs during the same week a year ago.
