Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending July 18 the US rig count decreased by four to 1,871, following a one-rig increase the week before. The rig count is still up by 101 from 1,770 rigs during the same week a year ago. The gas rig count increased by four to 315, whereas the oil rig count decreased by nine to 1,554.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count soared by 66 in the week ending July 18 to reach 381 following a six-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 57 from 324 rigs during the same week a year ago.
