US rig count slips while Canada’s continues upward climb

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending February 8, the US rig count fell by five to 1,759, following an 11-rig increase the prior week. Year-on-year, the US rig count was down 230 rigs. During the past week, 1,330 rigs were drilling for oil, down two from the previous week, while gas-directed drilling rigs dropped by three to 425.

Canada's rig count increased by six to 631, following a four-rig increase last week. Nonetheless, Canada's rig count was down 78 year-on-year.
