US rig count rises as Canadian trend continues downward

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending April 25, the US rig count increased by 30 to 1,861.  The rig count is still up by 107 from 1,754 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count increased by 24 to 1,534, whereas the gas rig count increased by seven to 323.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 31 in the week ending April 25 to reach 168.  However, the Canadian rig count is still up 46 from 122 rigs during the same week a year ago.
