US rig count rises again while Canadian count continues to vacillate

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending February 10, the US rotary rig count increased by 12 to 741 following a 17-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 149, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 8 to 591. The overall rig count is now up by 200 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by nine to 352 rigs in the week ending February 10, following a two-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 130 rigs from the same week a year ago.
