US rig count recovers while Canada dips sharply

According to Friday's report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending August 3, the US rig count increased by six to 1,930, following a total 47-rig decline in the previous four weeks and up 10 from the same week a year ago.  The gas rig count slipped another seven to 498 while rigs drilling for oil rose by 13 to 1,429.

The Canadian rig count fell during the week, dropping by 35 to 303, a 131-rig decrease year-over-year.
