Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 5, the
US rotary rig count increased by seven to 877 following a 13-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by two to 173, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by six to 703. The overall rig count is now up by 462 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by three to 82 rigs in the week ending May 5, following a three-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 46 rigs from the same week a year ago.
