Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 1 the US rotary rig count increased by three to 943 rigs following a three-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 183 while the number of rigs drilling for oil stayed level at 759. The overall rig count is now up by 446 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 16 to 201 rigs in the week ending September 1, following a three-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 64 rigs from the same week a year ago.
