US rig count drops slightly while Canadian count increases

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 15 the US rotary rig count decreased by eight to 936 rigs following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 186 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by seven to 749. The overall rig count is now up by 430 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 10 to 212 rigs in the week ending September 15, following a one-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 80 rigs from the same week a year ago.
