US rig count downtrend slows while Canadian count ticks up

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending May 15 the US rig count decreased by six to 888, after an 11-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count increased by two to 223, whereas the oil rig count decreased by eight to 660. The overall rig count is down by 973 from 1,861 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by two in the week ending May 15 to 77, after a four-rig drop the week before. The Canadian rig count is down by 76 from 153 rigs during the same week a year ago.
