US rig count continues to rise as Canadian count slips

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending June 27 the US rig count increased by 15 to 1,873, following a four-rig increase the week before.  The rig count is still up by 125 from 1,748 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The gas rig count increased by three to 314, whereas the oil rig count increased by 13 to 1,558.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased in the week ending June 27, by 29 to reach 236 following a 21-rig increase the previous week.  The Canadian rig count is still up 30 from 206 rigs during the same week a year ago.
