According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on November 5, 2016, US domestic raw steel production was 1,602,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 67.5 percent.
Production was 1,537,000 net tons in the week ending November 5, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 64.2 percent. The current week production represents a 4.2 percent increase from the same period in the previous year.
Production for the week ending November 5, 2016 is up 1.7 percent from the previous week ending October 29, 2016 when production was 1,575,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 66.4 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through November 5, 2016 was 75,127,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 71.3 percent. That is down 1.8 percent from the 76,488,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.9 percent.
