US raw steel production rises from previous week

According to a report from the American Iron and Steel Institute, in the week ending June 21, 2014, US domestic raw steel production was 1,880,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 78.2 percent. Production was 1,824,000 net tons in the week ending June 21, 2013, while the capability utilization then was 76.1 percent. The current week production represents a 3.1 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending June 21, 2014 is up 1.6 percent from the previous week ending June 14, 2014 when production was 1,850,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 76.9 percent.
 
 Adjusted year-to-date production through June 21, 2014 was 45,115 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.4 percent. That is a 0.1 percent decrease from the 45,163 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 76.7 percent.
