US raw steel production edges down half a percent week-on-week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on May 13, 2017, US domestic raw steel production was 1,728,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 74.1 percent.
 
Production for the week ending May 13, 2017 is down 0.5 percent from the previous week ending May 6, 2017 when production was 1,737,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.5 percent.
 
Production was 1,732,000 net tons in the week ending May 13, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 74.1 percent. The current week production represents a 0.2 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.
 
Adjusted year-to-date production through May 13, 2017 was 32,924,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 74.3 percent. That is up 3.2 percent from the 31,912,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 72.1 percent.
