US OCTG imports rise 18.8 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 291,776 mt in June 2017, up 18.8 percent from May and up 338.0 percent from June 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $259.1 million in June 2017, compared to $217.8 million in the previous month and $65.0 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in June, with 101,220 mt, compared to 96,567 mt in May and 18,575 mt in June 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in June include Mexico, with 33,229 mt; Taiwan, with 19,197 mt; Canada, with 17,400 mt; Brazil, with 14,350 mt; and Argentina, with 13,526 mt.
