US line pipe imports rise 51.5 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 132,012 mt in February 2017, up 51.5 percent from January and up 18.8 percent from February 2016 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $99.9 million in February 2017, compared to $70.5 million in the previous month and $76.5 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in February, with 44,858 mt, compared to 38,183 mt in January and 62,694 mt in February 2016. Other top sources of imported line pipe in February include India, with 38,935 mt; Russia, with 14,524 mt; Canada, with 7,767 mt; Mexico, with 7,590 mt; and Japan, with 4,036 mt.
