On Monday, US President Barack Obama said the US filed a case at the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding Chinese subsidies on auto and auto parts subsidies. In a speech in Ohio, Obama said: "And today, my administration is launching new action against China--this one against illegal subsidies that encourage companies to ship auto parts manufacturing jobs overseas."

Meanwhile, China lodged a complaint against certain US duties on Chinese exports on Monday. The exports include steel, kitchen appliances and wind towers, as well as tires, magnets and chemicals.
