US iron and steel scrap exports fall 2.4 percent in July

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,268,064 mt in July, a 2.4 percent decrease month-on-month but a 58.8 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in July with 303,353 mt, which decreased 1.3 percent month-on-month but increased 35.8 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in July include: Mexico, with 178,037 mt; Taiwan, with 103,361 mt; Bangladesh, with 96,147 mt; and Canada, with 78,448 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $398.6 million in July, a 0.8 percent increase compared to June and a 67.3 percent increase compared to July 2016.
