US iron and steel scrap exports drop 15.8 percent in July

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 870,771 mt in July, which represents a 15.8 percent decrease month-on-month and a 3.3 percent decrease year-on-year.
 
Turkey was once again the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in July with 217,154 mt, which is up 146.7 percent month-on-month and up 4.4 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in July include: Mexico, with 150,967 mt; Taiwan, with 139,715 mt; Korea, with 86,265 mt; and Canada, with 58,970 mt.
 
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $256.4 million in July, a 22.9 percent decrease compared to June and a 19.1 percent decrease compared to July 2015.
