US hot rolled bar exports rise 4.6 percent in May

US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 37,303 mt in May, up 4.6 percent from April and up 17.4 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $38.7 million in May, compared to $37.8 million in the previous month and $30.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Canada in May with 17,843 mt, compared to 16,643 mt in April and 13,410 mt in May 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 17,803 mt. No other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) of US export hot rolled bar were recorded in May.
