US HDG exports rise 21 percent in May

US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strips totaled 148,304 mt in May, up 21.0 percent from April and up 39.3 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $152.7 million in May, compared to $125.9 million in the previous month and $104.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in May with 108,533 mt, compared to 75,738 mt in April and 58,037 mt in May 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 37,799 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US HDG exports in May.
