US HDG exports rise 14.5 percent in January

US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strips totaled 102,429 mt in January, up 14.5 percent from December but down 5.4 percent from January 2016 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $104.1 million in January, compared to $88.0 million in the previous month and $100.0 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in January, with 62,160 mt, compared to 43,906 mt in December and 63,429 mt in January 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 38,601 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US HDG exports in January.
