US HDG exports down 0.4 percent in December, up 0.6 percent for full-year 2016

US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strips totaled 89,426 mt in December, down 0.4 percent from November and down 0.7 percent from December 2015 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $88.0 million in December, compared to $89.1 million in the previous month and $84.9 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in December, with 43,906 mt, compared to 49,873 mt in November and 49,159 mt in December 2015. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 43,314 mt; and Italy, with 1,456 mt.
 
As for the full year 2016, US HDG exports totaled 1,214,019 mt, a 0.6 percent increase from 2015. By value, HDG exports totaled $1.18 billion in 2016, up 0.7 percent from 2015.
