US-based worldwide industrial services company Harsco Corporation has announced that its Harsco Metals group is expanding into the United Arab Emirates to help create a new electric arc furnace for Abu-Dhabi-based Emirates Steel LLC.

Under the terms of a new ten-year contract with Emirates Steel, Harsco will serve as the principal onsite service partner to the EAF, which will produce 400,000 tons of billets and 250,000 tons of DRI per year.

The mill is a subsidiary of Al Nasser Industrial Enterprises, one of the leading manufacturing companies in the UAE. Harsco expects to begin work on the project within the next one to two months.
