US exports of automotive vehicles increased over 4 percent in May

According to the US Census Bureau, the advance statistics for US International Trade for the category “Automotive Vehicles, etc.” shows that both against April 2017 and against May 2016 seasonally adjusted exports in May 2017 increased by over 4 percent. Imports decreased by over 2 percent in May and April 2017 in seasonally adjusted terms, but increased 0.7 percent in May when compared to the same month last year.

Imports were 45 percent of the value of exports in May 2017 while 42 percent in April 2017 and 43 percent in March 2017.  Against May 2016, where exports were approximately 44 percent of the value imported, exports increased slightly in May 2017.
