The US Department of Commerce reported Tuesday that it has set preliminary dumping duties on Chinese steel wheels and galvanized steel wire.

Countervailing duties on certain steel wheels used in commercial vehicles will range from 26.24 to 46.59 percent. Two auto parts suppliers, Accuride Corporation and Hayes Lemmerz International Inc. filed the petition earlier this year after Chinese steel wheel imports surged 25 percent between 2009 and 2010.

Additional, the US DOC made a preliminary affirmative determination to impose countervailing duties between 21.59 to 253.07 percent on Chinese galvanized steel wire. Davis Wire Corp., Johnstown Wire Technologies Inc., Mid-South Wire Company, Inc., National Standard LLC and Oklahoma Steel & Wire Co., Inc. were among the petitioners in the galvanized steel wire case.

Galvanized steel wire and steel wheels from China are also currently under an antidumping investigation as well. A final determination on the CVD cases is expected by January 2012.
