On July 23, the Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the initiation of antidumping duty (AD) investigations of imports of certain oil country tubular goods (OCTG) from India, the Republic of Korea (Korea), the Republic of the Philippines (Philippines), Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, the Republic of Turkey (Turkey), Ukraine, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (Vietnam) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations of imports of OCTG from India and Turkey.

The petitioners for these investigations are United States Steel Corporation, Maverick Tube Corporation, Boomerang Tube LLC, Energex Tube, Northwest Pipe Company, Tejas Tubular Products Inc., TMK IPSCO, Vallourec Star, L.P., and Welded Tube USA, Inc. Maverick Tube Corporation and Vallourec Star, L.P., are not petitioners for the investigation of OCTG imports from Saudi Arabia.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) is scheduled to make its preliminary injury determinations on or before August 16, 2013.

If the ITC determines that there is a reasonable indication that imports from India, Korea, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and/or Vietnam materially injure, or threaten material injury to, the domestic industry, the investigations will continue and the DOC will be scheduled to make its preliminary CVD determinations in September 2013 and its preliminary AD determinations in December 2013, unless the statutory deadlines are extended. If the ITC preliminary determinations are negative, the investigations will be terminated.
