On January 13, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced in the Federal Register the preliminary results of an administrative review of the antidumping (AD) duty order for certain hot rolled carbon steel flat products from India. The review was initiated on January 29, 2010.

As a result of the review, covering December 1, 2008 to November 30, 2009, the DOC preliminarily determined that respondents Essar Steel Limited, Ispat Industries Limited and JSW Steel Limited did not export the subject merchandise to the US during the period mentioned. The other respondent Tata Steel Limited has declared that it made one minor shipment during the period and the DOC preliminarily determined that it had no reviewable transactions of subject merchandise during the period of the review.

Provided that this decision stays valid in the final determination, the companies' prior AD duty margins will stay valid and a 23.87 percent AD margin will continue to be implemented for other producers/exporters.
