US DOC issues preliminary AD determination on SSSSC from Taiwan

On August 13, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced in the Federal Register the preliminary results in the antidumping (AD) duty investigation of imports of stainless steel sheet and strip in coils (SSSSC) from Taiwan.

The investigation looking into 20 companies, covered the period from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009. Chia Far Industrial Factory Co. Ltd is deemed to be the mandatory respondent by the DOC, and received a dumping margin of zero.

The DOC determined a margin of 4.30 percent for the respondents, Chain Chon Industrial Co., Ltd, Chien Shing Stainess, Dah Shi Metal Industrial Co., Ltd, Goang Jau Shing Enterprise Co., Ltd, KNS Enterprise Co., Ltd, Lih Chan Steel Co., Ltd, Maytun International Corp, PFP Taiwan Co., Ltd, Shih Yuan Stainless Steel Enterprise Co., Ltd, Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co., Ltd, Tang Eng Iron Works, Tibest International Inc, Tung Mung Development Co., Ltd./Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co, Ltd, Waterson Corp, Yieh Loong Enterprise Co., Ltd. (aka Chung Hung Steel Co., Ltd.), Yieh Mau Corp, Yieh Trading Corp and Yieh United Steel Corporation.

China Steel Corporation is found to have no shipments into the US of the product in question during the period of review.

The DOC has also rescinded the review with respect to Emerdex Group, Emerdex Stainless Flat-Rolled Products, Inc., and Emerdex Stainless Steel, Inc. (collectively, the ‘Emerdex Companies').

The petitioners for this investigation are: Allegheny Ludlum Corporation, AK Steel Corporation, North American Stainless, United Auto Workers Local 3303, United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO/CLC, and Zanesville Armco Independent Organization.
