US DOC calculates minimal CVD margins on Korean flat steel

On Friday, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the final results of its administrative review of the countervailing duty (CVD) order on corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from Korea

The review covered three companies--Dongbu Steel Co., Ltd.; Hyundai HYSCO Ltd.; and Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (POSCO)--during the period of calendar year 2010.

The DOC has calculated the final subsidy margins for each company: Dongbu - 0.12 percent; HYSCO - 0.19 percent; and POSCO - 0.16 percent. All of these preliminary margins are de minimis.

Accordingly, the DOC will send instructions to US Customs and Border Protection to liquidate entries that were made during the period of review with no countervailing duties.

Last week, the DOC revoked the CVD order on corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from Korea as the result of the US International Trade Commission's negative determination in the sunset review of this order. For the same reason, the DOC also revoked the antidumping (AD) orders on corrosion-resistant carbon steel flat products from Korea and Germany. The effective date of revocation is February 14, 2012.
