US cut-length plate exports up 10.2 percent in December, down 3.0 percent for full-year 2016

US exports of cut-length plate totaled 89,711 mt in December, up 10.2 percent from November and up 17.5 percent from December 2015 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $72.2 million in December, compared to $68.6 million in the previous month and $66.4 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in December, with 50,422 mt, compared to 43,040 mt in November and 40,728 mt in December 2015. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 32,102 mt; Sweden, with 3,450 mt; and Brazil, with 1,408 mt.
 
As for the full year 2016, US cut-length plate exports totaled 1,052,073 mt, a 3.0 percent decrease from 2015. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $913.8 million in 2016, down 13.4 percent from 2015.
