US cut-length plate exports drop 21 percent in July

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cut-length plate totaled 77,789 mt in July, down 21.0 percent from June and down 14.9 percent from July 2016 levels. By value, cut-length plate exports totaled $78.7 million in July, compared to $94.2 million in the previous month and $81.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in July with 41,120 mt, compared to 50,264 mt in June and 49,428 mt in July 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 30,304 mt; Sweden, with 2,200 mt; and Colombia, with 1,430 mt.
