US CRC imports rise 12.1 percent in January

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheets totaled 193,198 mt in January 2017, up 12.1 percent from December and up 44.3 percent from January 2016 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $139.6 million in January 2017, compared to $126.9 million in the previous month and $83.8 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most CRC from Vietnam in January, with 51,520 mt, compared to 16,046 mt in December and 35,751 mt in January 2016. Other top sources of imported CRC in January include Turkey, with 29,701 mt; Canada, with 29,156 mt; Mexico, with 18,213 mt; Sweden, with 14,799 mt; and Germany, with 9,965 mt.
