US count sees moderate rise while Canadian count continues to drop

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 13, the US rotary rig count increased by eight to 847 following a 15-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by three to 162, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 11 to 683. The overall rig count is now up by 407 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 14 to 118 rigs in the week ending April 13, following a 23-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by only 40 rigs from the same week a year ago.
