US beam exports up 8.1 percent in June

According to US Department of Commerce census export data, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 32,334 mt in June, up 8.1 percent from May but down 29.1 percent from June 2016 levels. By value, beam exports totaled $29.7 million in June, compared to $26.6 million in the previous month and $39.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beams to Canada in June with 26,822 mt, compared to 23,877 mt in May and 32,498 mt in June 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 4,160 mt. There were no other major destinations (over 1,000 mt) for US beam exports in June.
