US automakers report improved results in February

The US' three major automakers--Ford Motor Company, Chrysler Group LLC, and General Motors Company--all reported increased sales in February.

Ford's US sales increased 14 percent year-on-year in February with 179,119 vehicles sold as retails sales increased 19 percent. Chrysler reported that in February 2012, US sales surged 40 percent and last month was the best February since 2008. February also marked the 23rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains for Chrysler. Units sold totaled 133,521. Meanwhile, General Motors, which expected to experience a drop in sales, reported a 1 percent year-on-year increase to 209,306 units.
