Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending August 1 the US rig count increased by six to 1,889, following a 12-rig decrease the week before. The rig count is still up by 107 from 1,782 rigs during the same week a year ago. The gas rig count decreased by five to 313, whereas the oil rig count increased by 11 to 1,573.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by three in the week ending August 1 to reach 395 following a 16-rig increase the previous week. The Canadian rig count is now up 51 from 341 rigs during the same week a year ago.
