Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 28, the
US rotary rig count increased by 13 to 870 following a 10-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 171, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by nine to 697. The overall rig count is now up by 450 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 14 to 85 rigs in the week ending April 28, following a 19-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by only 37 rigs from the same week a year ago.
