US and Canadian rig counts continue to plunge

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 6 the US rig count decreased by 75 to 1,192 after a 43-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by 12 to 268, whereas the oil rig count decreased by 64 to 922. The overall rig count is down by 600 from 1,792 rigs during the same week a year ago.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 30 in the week ending March 6 to reach 300 after a 30-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is down by 287 from 587 rigs during the same week a year ago.
