Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 4 the US rotary rig count decreased by four to 954 rigs following an eight-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by three to 189 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by one to 765. The overall rig count is now up by 490 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by three to 217 rigs in the week ending August 4, following a 14-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 95 rigs from the same week a year ago.
