US and Canadian rig count uptrends continue

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending June 20 the US rig count increased by four to 1,858, following a six-rig decrease the week before.  The rig count is still up by 99 from 1,759 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The gas rig count decreased by one to 311, whereas the oil rig count increased by three to 1,545.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased again in the week ending June 20, by 21 to reach 265 following a 30-rig increase the previous week.  The Canadian rig count is now up 68 from 197 rigs during the same week a year ago.
