Russian heavy machinery group OMZ has stated that its Uralmashzavod division and Italy-based PERT will build and sell mini metallurgical plants. The companies have already signed the relevant agreement. The partners are prepared to begin building mini plants once they secure customers.

IPERT will be responsible for engineering, since that is their specialty, as well as everything that concerns the rolling mill. Uralmashzavod will do everything else that concerns the internals of the plant, including the continuous billet casting machine.

The companies see Russian companies and foreign companies from Venezuela, Cuba, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Zambia as potential customers.

The partners primarily plan to build plants to produce rolled products for construction with capacities of 100,000 to 500,000 mt per year.
The plants will use the technology of smelting steel from scrap metal, continuous casting and rolling of finished products.

Uralmashzavod makes equipment for the oil, gas and construction industries, and for ferrous and nonferrous metal plants. The company's strategic partner is Gazprombank.
