According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in June this year the output price index for domestic sales of manufactured products in the UK fell by 0.4 percent compared with May this year and was up 2.3 percent compared to the same month of 2011. The latest annual rate of increase was the slowest since October 2009, when the index rose 1.5 percent.
In June, the UK's output prices for the basic metal industry fell by 0.4 percent month on month and was down 3.8 percent compared to June 2011. During the given month, the output prices for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, remained unchanged compared to the previous month and were up 1.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the UK's metal sector, the input price index of imported basic iron and steel, ferroalloys, tube and pipes decreased 1.9 percent month on month and fell by 8.8 percent compared to June 2011, while the imported cold formed or folded metal product input price index fell 1.1 percent compared to the previous month and was down 10.9 percent year on year.
